About Preserving Pearls
Preserving Pearls is an exercise in recognising the divine qualities in the children around us that we also once possessed, but somehow left behind. I believe children can often be reflection of what life was meant to be like, in its uncorrupted form. Sometimes I wonder if this is what Jesus may have been eluding to when he asked us to 'become like children'. This is not about sheltering our children from the 'real world' or harbouring unrealistic expectations of innocence. Rather, in a world where children face early sexualisation, high academic pressure (or no academic opportunity) and other childhood-robbing issues, it is an attempt to acknowledge the pearls of beauty that come with childhood, nuture them and maybe claim them for ourselves!
